previous (kadal aLavAya thisai)<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\"><strong>maNavALa mAmunigaL<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When those who thus heard emperumAnAr\u2019s glories asked how great is his bhakthi (devotion), <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr <\/a>\u00a0divines here about his love for matters related to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> and His devotees, and in <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> which emphasizes those two aspects.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In previous pAsurams, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> \u00a0divined about emperumAnAr\u2019s establishment of the path of vEdhas, his strength to win those philosophies outside of vEdhas, his complete knowledge of vEdhas, and his teaching that knowledge to all in the world; in this \u2013 he divines about the three points &#8211; emperumAnAr\u2019s, as part of that distinguished knowledge, unbounded love 1) towards <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a>, and 2) towards His devotees who are like shadows under emperumAn&#8217;s divine feet, and 3)_ towards <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> which emphasizes these two aspects, and divines about emperumAnAr\u2019s magnanimity which enables him to help about these three aspects to everyone.<\/p>\n<p><em>uNarndha mey gyAniyar yOgam thoRum thiruvAimozhiyin <\/em><br \/>\n<em>maNantharum innisai mannum idam thoRum &#8211; <\/em>those who possess true knowledge of knowing what needs to be known, and.<br \/>\n<em>idam thoRum \u2013 <\/em>in each place<br \/>\n<em>mannum <\/em>\u00a0&#8211; which always<br \/>\n<em>maNam tharum \u2013<\/em> possesses\u00a0 the fragrance<br \/>\n<em>thiruvAimozhi yin <\/em> \u2013 of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a><br \/>\n<em>in isai \u2013 <\/em>\u00a0with distinguished music,<br \/>\n<em>pathi thoRum \u2013<\/em> and in each divine temple<br \/>\n<em>porundhum \u2013 <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>where there is gracious and happy presence of<br \/>\n<em>mArvan \u2013 <\/em>one who is having beautiful divine chest<br \/>\n<em>puNarndha \u2013 <\/em>which is resided in at all times<br \/>\n<em>mAmalarAL \u2013 <\/em>by periya pirAttiyAr,<br \/>\n<em>irAmAnusan \u2013 <\/em>emperumAnAr<br \/>\n<em>guNam thigazh \u2013 <\/em>who is having the bright qualities of true self<br \/>\n<em>koNdal \u2013 <\/em>and helping everyone in all the ways using such qualities,<br \/>\n<em>kozhundhu <\/em>\u2013 and who is the head<br \/>\n<em>em kulam \u2013 <\/em>of our clan\/group,<br \/>\n<em>pukku \u2013 <\/em>(such emperumAnAr would) enter each such place due to desire to involve in them<br \/>\n<em>niRkum \u2013 <\/em>and would get immersed in them;<\/p>\n<p>This is how the glory of his devotion is, is the thought here.<\/p>\n<p>OR,<\/p>\n<p>It can also be said that <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> , after speaking about the glory of emperumAnAr\u2019s wisdom (<em>gyAna vaibhavam)<\/em>, he himself thought about emperumAnAr\u2019s glory of devotion<em> (bhakthi vaibhavam)<\/em>, became brightened by such quality, and says that emperumAnAr who helps everyone about that love, is the head of our group\/clan.<\/p>\n<p><em>kozhundhu \u2013 <\/em>Also can be said as &#8211; head (shoot, blossoming tip of a tree). With the clan\/group as the root, and emperumAnAr as the top part, like how if there is any dryness in the root then the shoots would first dry up, if there is any danger to this (SrIvaishNava) clan, then it is emperumAnAr who would be having his divine face go dull.<\/p>\n<p>Music giving out fragrance is \u2013 (<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a>) having elegance of songs.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><em>uNarndha mey gyAniyar yOgam thoRum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>devotion (<em>bhakthi)<\/em> is\u00a0 &#8211; since it is the result of maturing of knowledge, that is, first understanding completely that SrIpathi (emperumAn) is the owner\/lord, and then knowledge that takes in about <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> who posses all the auspicious qualities, who is the most joyous, and who enjoys and is enjoyed the most as said in \u2018<em>sarva gandhassarva rasa:\u2019,<\/em> that aspect in us blossoms into something that is just based on love, and is having the name as devotion.<\/p>\n<p>So, <em>uNarvu<\/em> (in <em>uNarndha)<\/em> means devotion.<\/p>\n<p>Such devotion<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; \u00a0is the true knowledge, knowledge of what is fact;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; immersed without any barrier, in emperumAn\u2019s nature, form, and qualities;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; non-blemished knowledge;<\/p>\n<p>Such knowledge driven by devotion (<em>bhakthirUpApanna gyAnam)<\/em> \u2013 which is possessed by <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a> \u2013 wherever there are group of such AzhvArs \u2013 in each such place;<\/p>\n<p><em>yOgam \u2013<\/em> group that is together;\u00a0 conference (<em>parishath).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>All the devoted AzhvArs had first gotten non-blemished knowledge (<em>mayarvaRa mathi nalam)<\/em>, were having full knowledge, understood <em>thathva thrayam <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">chith<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/09\/thathva-thrayam-achith-what-is-matter\/\">achith<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/http:\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/sriman-narayanan\/\">eeSvaran<\/a>), and considered them as is, and were involved in <a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/12\/thathva-thrayam-iswara-who-is-god\/\">sarvESvaran<\/a> who is the most enjoyed\/enjoyable as said in \u2018<em>appozhudhaikku appozhudhu en ArAvamudham<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/03\/thiruvaimozhi-2-5-4-epporulum-thanay\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u2013 2.5.4<\/a>]\u2019, and as they said in \u2018<em>ayarppilan alaRRuvan thazhuvuvan <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/07\/thiruvaimozhi-1-3-10-thuyakkaru-mathiyil\/\">thiruvAimozhi \u00a0\u2013 1.3.10<\/a>]<em>\u2019<\/em> due to desire to be with Him in any which ways, had worn women\u2019s clothes, sent messengers, performed <em>madal<\/em> (going around and announcing their love to the people, etc.), and so were having boundless love;\u00a0 so, it is not inaccurate to say that <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a> are \u2018<strong><em>uNarndha mey gyAniyar<\/em>\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thiruvAimozhiyin maNam tharum innisai mannum idam thoRum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>The collection of words from the divine mouth of <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> who is the head among the ten AzhvArs, which are known as dhivya prabandham\u2019s;\u00a0 since <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> talks about the one said as \u2018<em>sarva gandha:<\/em>\u2019, it is also fragrant, and it gives that (Him\/fragrance) to those who recite it, that music which is in the form of songs to recite as said in \u2018<em>yAzhin isai vEdhaththiyal<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2015\/03\/thiruvaimozhi-thaniyans-invocation\/\">thiruvAimozhi thaniyan<\/a>]\u2019, and \u2018<em>thoNdarkku amudham<\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> \u2013 9.4.9]\u2019, and thus is one of the most enjoyable &#8211; fragrance of thiruvAimozhi&#8217;s musical hymns (who is immersed in it here?)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>porundhum pathi thoRum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in all the divine temples where He is present happily; in the perumAL kOyil where pEraruLALar Himself came with him showing the way and got him reach safety, in the namperumAL kOyil by the command of periya perumAL, in thiruppathi when Saivites came from kALahasthi and caused lowly trouble, in thirunArAyaNapurm for winning the ones whose philosophy did not accept vEdhas, and moreover in each of the many dhivya dhESams like thirunagari, thirumAlirunchOlai, and more,<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>pukku niRkum \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>due to the desire to enjoy those places, he went to each such dhivya dhESam in many ways, and organized them completely, due to the higher plane of devotion of fear of separation he was fully immersed in them, \u00a0and present there doing <em>mangaLAsAsanam<\/em> (wishing Him well) at all times, and having love higher than that of the distinguished ones referred to in \u2018<strong><em>uNarndha mey gyAniyar <\/em>\u2018 <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a>),\u00a0 he would without separation ever would be immersed in the three aforementioned places.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>guNam thigazh koNdal<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; As such great quality that is bhakthi got into him and became something worth and became significant, as said in \u2018<em>mugach chOdhi vAzhi <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/05\/arththi-prabandham\/\">Arththi prabandham<\/a>]\u2019 (Wishing long life to the light on the divine face of emperumAnAr), his knowledge, devotion, and steadfastness, and the glory of those pramAthas (learned ones mentioned above), and the glory of those texts, and periya pirAttiyAr who says \u2018<em>apramEyam hithaththEjO yasya sA janakAthmajA:\u2019<\/em>,\u00a0 His glory that would make us lose ourselves \u2013 emperumAnAr pours and gives all these to everyone, everywhere, at all times,\u00a0 like how the rain would pour without distinction of land or sea \u2013 such ultimately generous \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>rAmAnusan &#8211; <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0emperumAnAr<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>em kulak kozhundhE \u2013\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><em>em kulam<\/em> is &#8211; our clan\/group \u2013 SrIvaishNava group. For that group, emperumAnAr is \u2018<strong><em>kozhundhu\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 that is, <strong><em>\u00ad<\/em><\/strong>for growing into a tree or to spread around as a creeper, the root cause is the tender shoot,\u00a0 so for our group he is the root cause. <strong><em>kozhundhu \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>head\/lead.<\/p>\n<p>Or, his saying \u2018<strong><em>em kulak kozhundhu\u2019<\/em>\u00a0 <\/strong>is \u2013\u00a0 our group being the root, and emperumAnAr being the tender shoot\u00a0 (from which leaves etc., grow), and so like how if the root gets a dry spell then it is the tender shoots which would become dull and dry first, if some drawback happens to our group, it is his face that would become dull first.<\/p>\n<p>We can think of the arrangement of lines as &#8220;The generous one having great qualities, our root cause,\u00a0 emperumAnAr, would go to each of those noble places and be immersed&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>uNarndha &#8230;.. yOgam thoRum<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 As said in \u2018<em>svagyAnam prApaka gyAnam prApya gyAnam mumukshubhi: | gyAnathrayam upAdhEyam Ethadhanyannakinchana || \u2018<\/em>\u00a0 (For those who wish to get liberated, it is only three types of knowledge that is to be gained \u2013 about self (<a href=\"https:\/\/granthams.koyil.org\/2013\/03\/06\/thathva-thrayam-chith-who-am-i\/\">AthmA<\/a>), about the means <em>(upAyam)<\/em>, and about the goal (<em>upEyam);<\/em> nothing else is needed),<\/p>\n<p>he is referring to such people who have learned what needs to be learned, when saying \u2018<em>uNarndha gyAniyar\u2019.<\/em> After learned them, those who say and do as is, are \u2018<em>uNarndha <strong>mey<\/strong> gyAniyar\u2019. <\/em>Now, since it talks about <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a>, they would have understood its meaning, that is, of \u2018<em>mikka iRai nilaiyum..\u2019<\/em>, that is, <a href=\"http:\/\/ponnadi.blogspot.in\/2015\/12\/artha-panchakam.html\"><em>artha panchakam<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>yOgam \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>place of assembly. As said in \u2018<em>vasanthi vaishNavA yathra thathra sannihithO hari:\u2019<\/em> (wherever vaishNavas live, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is present in those places),\u00a0 emperumAnAr goes in and involves himself in those places where such people assemble\/ are present.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thiruvAimozhiyin &#8230; innisai mannum idam thoRum \u2013<\/em> <\/strong>In all the places where those like <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/01\/17\/madhurakavi-azhwar\/\">madhurakavi AzhvAr<\/a> who sings the sweet music of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">kurugUr nambi<\/a><\/em>, \u00a0emperumAnAr goes in and gets involved.\u00a0 Since <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/18\/nammazhwar-english\/\">nammAzhvAr<\/a> \u2018s earlier three prabandhams are of type <em>iyarpA<\/em> (not in the poetic form that is singable), he is referring to his <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a> (which is not <em>iyarpA <\/em>category) as \u2018<em>innisai\u2019 <\/em>(sweet music).<\/p>\n<p>Wherever raghunAthan\u2019s glory is sung, thiruvadi (hanuman) would stand there with folded hands and tearful eyes listening to it \u2013 likewise, wherever there is the music of <a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruvaimozhi\/\">thiruvAimozhi<\/a>, emperumAnAr gets involved and immersed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>porundhum pathi \u2013<\/em> <\/strong>place where <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> is present well set (in this world). It would seem that there would be places where <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">emperumAn<\/a> would Not be well set \u2013 that would be paramapadham. Unlike in paramapadham where He cannot be peaceful due to thinking about us who are suffering here, He is able to be present well set in here amongst us and is happy to be so.<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>SrI vaikuNta virakthAya\u2019 <\/em>, and \u2018<em>thyakthvA vaikuNtamuththamam\u2019<\/em>, He got disinclination towards paramapadham, and leaving it he came here living happily in divine temples, and the reason is &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/08\/17\/divya-dhampathi\/\">pirAttiyAr<\/a> in his divine chest.
