<a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> is now drawn\u00a0 towards the generosity of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> who voluntarily made vEdhas to be present well in this world and without any enemies, and says that the clan that has surrendered to such <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s divine feet is the one that could rule his clan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction (given by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/04\/08\/pillai-lokam-jiyar\/\"><strong>piLLailOkam jIyar<\/strong><\/a><strong>)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the previous pAsuram <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> said that vEdham felt proud upon seeing the nature of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> and was proudly walking in the world with the thought that there is no bother from anyone; those who live in such kOyil (SrIrangam), who are servants of periya perumAL,<br \/>\n<em>kulAvum \u2013 <\/em>who celebrate after losing to such nature<br \/>\n<em>irAmAnusanai &#8211; <\/em>\u00a0of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>,<br \/>\n<em>mEvi<\/em> \u2013 who are drawn into such nature of him,<br \/>\n<em>thozhum kudi \u2013 <\/em>such clan of people, who have ignored material aspects,<br \/>\n<em>engal kOkkulamAm<\/em>\u00a0 &#8211; they are the clan who can rule us, us who think that their connection only is desirable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>engal kO kudi -&gt; <\/em>ko -&gt; king : they are the kings for us.<\/p>\n<p><em>kaNdavar sindhai kavarum -&gt; <\/em>can be adjective for periya perumAL (who attracts those who see Him)<\/p>\n<p>kadi -&gt; fragrance.<\/p>\n<p>Does it make sense to read it as paN<strong>d<\/strong>aru vEdhangaL (instead of paN tharu) to mean vEdham that is being present from old times? No. It is possible only if it is read as paNdai aru vEdham, and not when paNdaru vEdham.\u00a0 paNdai implies what was present during old\/early times; paNdu implies the old\/early times itself. paNdai nAnmaRai -&gt; implies vEdhas that were present from old times; examples are, <em>paNdai nAnmaRai, paNdaik kulam, paNdaiyOm allOm, versus, paNdu nURRuvar, paNdum inRum, paNdoru nAL Alin ilai vaLarndhu,<\/em> etc., where one can see the difference of meanings between<em> paNdu <\/em>versus <em>paNdai.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>vyAkyAnam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thogai iRandha \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>When trying to count the content of vEdhas, since it is said as \u2018<em>ananthAvai vEdhA:\u2019, <\/em>(vEdhas are boundless), it is not possible to completely count it. <em>thogai \u2013 sankyai \u2013 <\/em>number\/count. In this way without bound by a number\/count, it is boundless;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>paN tharu vEdhangaL<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <em>paN -&gt; <\/em>musical notes of high\/medium\/low pitches (sounds); there are also many in number \u00a0based on SAkhA, and notes based on those SAkhA &#8211; such vEdhas which show us these aspects; vEdhas which can show us those variation of notes in reciting; as said in \u2018<em>samastha gyAthavya arthAmScha vEdhayatheethi vEdha:\u2019<\/em>\u00a0 (whatever should be learned, vEdhas show us that); shows us fully and clearly about how to do worship, and about the brahmam who is to be worshipped; and so it is having the name as vEdham.<\/p>\n<p>(Note: In thamizh \u2018paN thaRu\u2019 can be combined to a word as \u2018paNdaru\u2019 (and this is what is present in the original text of the pAsuram). So,<\/p>\n<p>paN<strong>d<\/strong>aru vEdhangaL \u2013 is it not possible to take this to mean as vEdhas being present at earlier times, and with <em>aru <\/em>as being hard to learn about it? (No), because <em>paNdu<\/em> is to mean the old time only (<em>kAlam) <\/em>and not to mean <em>what was present<\/em> during old times <em>(kAleenam)<\/em>; <em>paNd<strong>ai<\/strong><\/em> is the one that means what was present during old times (<em>kAleenam); <\/em><\/p>\n<p>examples of <em>kAleenam (paNdai) <\/em>(\u2018present during\u2019 old times) \u2013 <em>paNdai nAnmaRai, paNdaik kulam, paNdaiyOm allOm. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>examples of kAlam (old time) \u2013 <em>paNdu nURRuvar, paNdu oru nAL.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So even when pronounced as <em>paNdu <\/em>in this pAsuram, it could imply the old time only, and not as something \u2018present\u2019 during old times; so the correct way to understand is to say \u2018<em>paN thaRu\u2019<\/em> &#8211; is what jeeyar also divined in his explanation (above)<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Such vEdhas that are in the four <em>forms<\/em> of rig, yajur, Sama, and atharvaNa, and the vEdhAnthas (upanishaths) in which sages like parASara, pArASarya, prAchEthas were immersed in;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>pAr mEl \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>in this big world<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>nilavidap pArththaruLum<\/em> \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> winning the jaina, baudhdha, etc., philosophies that were not accepting vEdhas, and made vEdhas to be established from \u2018AsEthu to himAchalam\u2019; \u00a0<em>nilavu -&gt; <\/em>being present\/in vogue; isn\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> the <em>vEdha mArga prathishtApanAchAryar?<\/em> (who laid the path and established the vEdhas everywhere).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>koNdalai \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>who is like bountiful cloud that voluntarily pours without partiality to sea or land;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kaNdavar sindhai kavarum<\/em> \u2013 <\/strong>As said in <em>\u2018bhUkeekaNta dhvayasa sarasa snighdha neerOpakaNdAm AvirmOdha sthimitha SakunAnUdhitha brahma gOshAm mArggE mArggE padhikanivgai ruchyamAnAm apavarggAm pAteeschanthAm narabhipureem SrImatheem ranganAtha:\u2019<\/em> (~ Considering the two worlds, the kAvEri river is like the virajA river of SrIvaikuNtam, running with great enthusiasm whose sound reminds us the sAma gAnam done in SrIvaikuNtam, in the path ways where the buildings are decorated, and in SrIrangam the paths and gardens are like described as present in SrIvaikuNtam, and thus gives us a feel that we are present in SrIvaikuNtam, and which attracts us and makes us wish to see it again and again \u2013 (such SrIrangam), and thus it steals the mind of those who see it, and when they do not see it makes them feel \u201cOh! when would we again see it?\u201d \u2013 such SrIrangam;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kadi pozhil then arangan <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; surrounded by the fragrant gardens; having maNdapas, gOpura vimAnams, entrances, multiple enclosures\/pathways inside the temple, and with many gardens all strongly present, and with dhvajasthambam, and decorations with flags waving (all showing it as a city);\u00a0 and so it is beautiful to see; He living in such attractive place and being named based on that \u2013 thiruvarangach chelvan emperumAn; <em>kadi -&gt;<\/em> fragrance;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kaNdavar sindhai kavarum kadi<\/em><\/strong><em> \u2013<\/em> this fragrance itself attracts people;<\/p>\n<p>Or, <strong><em>kaNdavar sindhai kavarum \u2013 then arangan <\/em><\/strong>: as adjective to periya perumAL;<\/p>\n<p>As said in \u2018<em>sarva gandha:\u2019,<\/em> due to the fragrance of Him which the gardens touch, they get such fragrance, and so are named \u2018<em>kadi pozhil\u2019<\/em> the identity of those gardens being their fragrance;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thoNdar kulAvum<\/em> &#8211; <\/strong>\u00a0The ten <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a> who get immersed in the experience of <em>then arangan,<\/em> as they said in \u2018<em>kaNdEn thiruvarangamEyAn thisai<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/poigai-azhwar\/\">poigai AzhwAr<\/a>), and \u2018<em>ini aRindhEn then arangaththu endhai<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/bhuthaththazhwar\/\">bhUthaththAzhwAr<\/a>), and, \u2018<em>thEnAr thiruvarangam<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/peyazhwar\/\">pEyAzhwAr<\/a>), and, \u2018<em>paNdarangamEyadhuvum<\/em>\u2019, and <em>\u2018thitkodi madhiL sUzh thiruvarangaththAy<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/nammazhwar\/\">nammAzhwAr<\/a>), and, \u2018<em>arangaththu aravaNaiyil paLLi koLLumkadal viLangu karu mEni ammAn thannaik kaNNARak kaNdu<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/kulasekarazhwar\/\">kulaSEkarAzhwAr<\/a>), and \u2018<em>aNi arangaththE kidandhAy<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/periyazhwar\/\">periyAzhwAr<\/a>), and \u2018<em>arangaththammA<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thondaradippodi-azhwar\/\">thoNdaradippodi AzhwAr<\/a>), and \u2018<em>aNdar kOn aNi arangan en amudhinaik kaNda kaNgaL maRRonRinaik kANAvE<\/em>\u2019 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thiruppanazhwar\/\">thiruppANAzhwAr<\/a>), and \u2018<em>nin adi iNai adaindhEn aNi pozhil thiruvarangaththu ammAnE<\/em> \u2018 (<a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/thirumangai-azhwar\/\">thirumangai AzhwAr<\/a>), the devotees celebrate such <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a> as said in \u2018<em>anRu eriththa thiruvaLaikkaith than thiruvuLLaththE iRuththum<\/em>\u2019 , that is, the devotees who always follow such <a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/azhwars\/\">AzhvArs<\/a> at all times;<\/p>\n<p><em>kulAvu \u2013 <\/em>celebration;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>mEvith thozhum kudi<\/em> \u2013 <\/strong>the people of the clan immersed in the qualities\/nature of <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> and who are not interested in other matters, and have surrendered &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>irAmAnusanai \u2013 <\/em><\/strong><em>to <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Am engaL kOkkudiyE<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 people of such clan are the ones who can take us as servants, we who consider only such people as desirable;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a>\u2019s attitude is that such clan of people are the lords not only for him but also for all the ones connected to him and those connected to those connections;<\/p>\n<p>Or, those who have surrendered to <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> are our lord who can take us servants, regardless of the clan in which they were born;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/mamunigal\/\">jeeyar<\/a> too gave the same meaning as he said \u2018<em>thvath dhAsa gaNanA charamAvadhauya: thath dhAsathaikarasathAvirathA mamAsthu<\/em> [yathirAja vimSathi]<em>\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>abhiyukthar also divined \u2013 \u2018sArangyOyadhigaSchithasthi bhuvanE nAthassayUthasyana:\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2013\/03\/26\/thiruvarangathu-amudhanar\/\">amudhanAr<\/a> divines like how AzhvAr said &#8211; \u2018<em>kulam thAngu sAdhigaL nAlilum keezh izhindhu eththanai, nalam thAn ilAdha chaNALa chaNdALargaLAgilum, valanthAngu chakkaraththaNNal maNivaNNarkku ALenRu uL, kalandhAr adiyAr tham adiyAr em adigaLE \u00a0<\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/divyaprabandham.koyil.org\/index.php\/2016\/10\/thiruvaimozhi-3-7-9-kulam-thangu\/\">thiruvAimozhi 3.7.9<\/a>]\u2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From AzhwAr thirunagari SrI u.vE. vidhwAn thirumalai nallAn chakravarththi rAmakrishNa iyengAr\u2019s \u2018<em>amudha virundhu<\/em>\u2019 :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>kaNdavar .. then arangan \u2013 <\/em><\/strong>Those who saw <em>kaNNapuraththu ammAn,<\/em> would <em>give<\/em> their mind\/thought; whereas, <em>then arangan<\/em> would <em>steal<\/em> the mind\/thought of those who see Him.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>thogai &#8230; koNdal <\/em><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; as <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> understood the meanings of whole span of vEdhas he was able to author Sri bAshyam and such granthams.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018<strong>pArththu aruLum\u2019<\/strong><\/em> indicates that it is not hard for <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> to see the complete meanings of vEdham; earlier in this prabandham, he \u2018saw\u2019 such that the six philosophies were scared; here he \u2018saw\u2019 to it that the vEdhas are able to live well in the world;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a> did all these not for any benefits for himself; like how the cloud would pour regardless of whether it is sea or land, <a href=\"https:\/\/acharyas.koyil.org\/index.php\/2012\/09\/06\/emperumanar\/\">emperumAnAr<\/a>\u2019s giving the meanings without expecting anything back, is described as \u2018<strong><em>koNdal\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>(rainy cloud).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8211;
