Highlights from vyAkyAnam (Commentary)

mallarai attu mALa – Fought with the wrestlers chANUra, mushtika et al who came with a lot of anger, and killed them instead of making them tired and letting them go; as kamsan angrily came, hearing the death of the wrestlers, emperumAn killed and destroyed him. These were done when he was a child.

Now, AzhwAr is talking about his acts which were done after he became old.

pal arasu … – All the evil people gathered in a single location; oh you who eliminated the burden of the earth by killing all those who came as kings supporting dhuryOdhana et al!

nal araN … – In the shade of the garden which has abundance of shade, in thirunAngUr which is very fragrant showing that this is the place where bhagavAn who is known as in chAndhOgya upanishath “sarvagandha:” (root of all fragrance) is eternally residing.

kal araN … – AzhwAr’s upAyam (means) is well protected here. Should I go searching for another protection giving up the well protected upAyam?
